RÔGO MadagasikaraTogether for implementation

Together for implementation

We are a youth-led Malagasy organization that works with local communities to promote sustainable wetland and tropical forest management while enhancing riparian well-being. Named after a Malagasy word for beehive, RÔGO symbolizes mutual aid, collaboration, and the sharing of natural benefits to uplift local livelihoods.

What we do

Our Programmes

The three key programmes that will enable RÔGO to fulfil its mission in the Boeny and Sofia regions.

Equitable Community Land Management

  • Conduct research to assess the state of natural, social, and economic heritage
  • Set up a local governance structure to manage natural resources
  • Restore natural habitats such as lakes and forests through establishment of tree nurseries and support local tree planting

Environmental Education and Youth Engagement

  • Promote environmental education and strengthen youth engagement towards climate action
  • Strengthen youth leadership and engagement towards empowering climate action

Well-being and Health Community Empowering

  • Increase and support the economic benefits of communities by developing income-generating activities, particularly through the promotion of products and sustainable finance (savings village; climate-smart agriculture; beekeeping)
  • Support the Community Pharmacy or COMPHA project and promote Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) services
  • Promote Nature-based Solutions (NbS) and Ecosystem-based Adaptation (EbA), a strategy that helps communities adapt to the adverse effects of climate change
How we work

Five principles, one hive.

Like bees building a hive, each value supports the others. Explore how they shape every action we take with riparian communities.

Determination

We work with determination and the ability to overcome challenges, even in the face of difficulties and obstacles in achieving our objectives.

Complementarity

We work together, leveraging each other's skills, strengths and differences to achieve common goals.

Commitment

We are fully committed to what we do, with heart and responsibility toward the communities and ecosystems we serve.

Social inclusion

We encourage everyone's participation to build a more harmonious and resilient society, leaving no voice aside.

Mutual respect

We respect people, nature and culture in every decision we make — from village meetings to field surveys.
